Is an apple really red? Why does the grass always seem greener on the other side? This talk dives sharply into such everyday mysteries. It begins by shaking the very foundation of your “common sense” with a live, mind-bending optical illusion—something you shouldn’t be able to see, but somehow can! What if the world you see, the flavors you savor, and the beauty you feel—all of it—were governed by one simple rule created by your brain? A single, astonishingly simple law of comparison that shapes your entire perception of reality.Once you understand this rule, you may finally see why people are drawn to certain things—or why they sometimes misunderstand others. A cutting-edge psychologist, drawing on years of research and countless experiments, unpacks the incredible mechanisms of the brain and perception that will make you exclaim, “Wait, it’s that simple?!”No difficult jargon—just clear, captivating insights that you’ll want to share with everyone. By the end of this video, you may never see the world the same way again. Your view of everyday scenes, your emotional reactions to art, the way you taste food, even how you perceive your own feelings or others’ opinions—all of it could shift dramatically. This is intellectual entertainment that sharpens your ability to see through illusion and appreciate subtle changes in life with new clarity and curiosity. Once you start watching, your curiosity won’t stop! Specializing in cognitive science and psychophysics, his annual Introduction to Psychology is a popular lecture attended by approximately 1,000 students from all disciplines. Based on the content of this lecture, he will use examples of illusions he himself has discovered to explore the laws of perception that lie at the "root of the mind" from a special perspective.

- 17:29Learning through off-the-record English | Attila Imre | TEDxTârguMureșEnglish is not just grammar and rules, but a living tool for communication. Even though textbooks teach an unrealistic ideal, life teaches us real English through movies, music, games, and conversations. Mistakes are part of the process, and the goal is not perfection, but confidence and connection. Let’s use the language, express ourselves, and keep learning continuously. For over three decades, Attila Imre has explored how non-native speakers perceive English grammar. As a teacher and author, he combines knowledge and humor to challenge rigid rules, inspiring development through a learning process that goes beyond the limits of the textbook. - 18:20Keep building! - 14:05How style shapes who you become | Orsolya Kovács Yurkov | TEDxTârguMureșEvery outfit you choose is more than fabric – it’s a message. In this talk, Orsolya ‘Yurkov’ Kovács reveals how the way we dress can shape our confidence, our relationships, and even the life we’re creating. Drawing from her own transformation and powerful client stories, she introduces enstylement: a way of dressing that is rooted in honesty, strength, and self-connection. Because the most powerful impression you leave is not what people see – it’s what they feel. Orsolya Kovács Yurkov is a Hungarian style consultant, mentor, and founder of the Yurkov Style Consultancy. For over 15 years, she has been guiding women on a deep journey of self-expression and inner alignment through their outer appearance. Combining her background in Buddhist philosophy, embodiment theory, and conscious style, Orsolya coined the term enstylement — the process of becoming who we are through how we dress and present ourselves in the world. Her approach is not about fashion, but about presence, authenticity, and transformation. Orsolya has worked with thousands of women across Europe, and California, helping them reconnect to their bodies, reclaim their confidence, and live more intentionally — one outfit at a time. - 17:51Gastronomy - connecting everyone | Adorján Trucza | TEDxTârguMureșCulinary habits, great recipes, a table to sit around, a taste from our childhood - food is not only one of the most basic of our survival needs, but one of the most universal languages. Sometimes you can learn more about a culture by tasting five dishes than by reading five books, and gastronomy is not only a node that connects people, but a continually evolving and beautiful topic that can evoke memories, inspire and bring people together. Trucza Adorján is a hospitality entrepreneur, owner of the Páva restaurants and guesthouses, the founder of Taste of Transylvania, and - according to many - one of the central figures and driving forces of Transylvanian gastronomy. He most often refers to Taste of Transylvania as a movement whose aim is to preserve and promote Transylvania’s culinary traditions and to lay the foundations for modern, 21st-century Transylvanian cuisine. As a result of their work, the Taste of Transylvania culinary festival, now concluding its fourth edition, has become Romania’s most significant and largest gastronomic event which, in the spirit of Transylvanian multiculturalism, addresses both the Hungarian and Romanian public in Romania as well as audiences beyond the country’s borders.
