Tommy examines society’s reliance on cars, exploring its causes, consequences, and how we can create more walkable, bikeable, and transit-friendly cities. Esmaeil Azarinejad, born in 1979 in Dehdasht, is an Islamic seminary scholar and educator, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Mysticism and Sufism. Since 2013, he has focused his work on three main areas: children, books, and rural communities. In line with this vision, he founded the *Story, Color, and Ball* Institute.With the aim of fostering knowledge and empowering children, Azarinejad established “Oak Houses” in several villages—community spaces where children engage in both skill-based learning and character-building experiences. Drawing on his unique and inspiring personal journey, he emphasizes that “knowledge” and “experience” are the two wings that enable human growth and perfection. Social media offers benefits such as improved communication, cultural exchange, and public engagement. However, its impact on Iranian society. Sadra Mohaqeq, an Iranian journalist born in Dehdasht, has over a decade of experience in leading national newspapers such as Shargh, specializing in social and environmental issues. He currently serves as Head of Communications and Public Relations at Divar, and is active across various social media networks. Mohaqeq’s work often explores the transformation of cultural interactions in Iran. He believes that for those of us who grew up in rural and sometimes remote areas, in the 1980s and 1990s, meeting people with different cultures and traditions required crossing mountains and navigating winding,at a time when vehicles were scarce. Today, in the modern era, we can sit at home and, through the vast “digital highways,” directly and instantaneously encounter people from across Iran and the world, with their diverse cultures and customs. He questions what this profound transformation has done to us, and whether its effects have ultimately been beneficial or detrimental. Dam construction is a controversial issue. On one hand, dams can provide irrigation, drinking water, hydropower, and flood control. On the other hand, they may cause significant ecological disruption, displacement of communities, reduction of biodiversity, and alteration of natural river systems. Whether dams are necessary or a mistake? Jahangir Habibi, born in Dehdasht, holds a degree in Civil Engineering and currently serves as the CEO of the Iran Water Resources Management Company, as well as the Director General of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Watershed. His research highlights the serious challenges Iran faces due to declining rainfall, population growth, increased pressure on water resources, and the risk of escalating water crises if current policies remain unchanged.Habibi emphasizes that water resources fall into two categories: surface and groundwater. While surface resources require effective management, groundwater extraction must be conducted sustainably. In dam construction, he advocates for essential practices such as environmental impact assessments and community engagement, while cautioning against unnecessary projects and neglecting social consequences. His work underscores the importance of expanding dam construction within a framework of sustainable development.
