- 8:28Imposter Syndrome Within The Female Experience | Sophie Fang | TEDxChantilly HSIn the United States, Asian Americans are constantly perceived through the lens of the “Model Minority” stereotype, a seemingly beneficial but ultimately harmful perspective that associates Asian Americans with universal success. The “Model Minority” stereotype enforces unrealistic expectations that manifest into Imposter Syndrome within the Asian American community. My talk explores how Imposter Syndrome is internalized and passed down through generations of women in Asian American families. Most importantly, I will discuss how this damaging cycle can be dismantled to make way for positive change in the Asian American community. I am a rising senior at Oakton High School working towards publishing my year-long research on Imposter Syndrome in Asian American families during the upcoming school year. I am aspiring to become a dental hygienist after studying General Biology in university.
