Rebuilding homes right in natural disaster zones | Lindsay Chambers | TEDxFiesole

What if rebuilding after a disaster could also rebuild our relationship with the planet? This talk explores how sustainable, net carbon-neutral homes can transform recovery into regeneration, proving that resilience isn’t just about restoring what was lost, but reimagining how we live, build, and care for one another Lindsay Chambers is a green building expert and climate educator, as well as the founder & Executive Director of Together We Thrive, a U.S.-based disaster relief non-profit. Prior to Together We Thrive, Lindsay was a lauded U.S. custom home developer and interior designer. She received awards and accolades, including being called one of “today’s most talented designers” by USA Today and was a finalist for HGTV’s Designer of the Year 2023. Her design work has been featured in House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Luxe Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the New York Times. In residential development, Lindsay developed, designed, and sold over $150 million in custom homes, including properties sold to 2 of the top 10 richest people in the world. Her foundation now develops and donates net carbon-neutral homes to disaster survivors who lack the means to rebuild, and also provides free water to survivors and first responders in disaster zones. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
