Deporte no es solamente formar parte de un equipo de baloncesto, de fútbol, etc. La palabra “deporte” incluye cualquier tipo de actividad física que el cuerpo realiza: caminar, correr, bailar, nadar, hacer las labores del hogar. El deporte es para todos los públicos, desde pequeños hasta mayores. Cualquier persona de cualquier edad lo puede realizar, el “no puedo“ no es una excusa válida. Siempre habrá limitaciones, pero también hay alternativas viables para que se pueda llevar a cabo. El deporte también sirve para conocer a personas, compartir. Porque el deporte “une y hace amigos “. ¿Cuántas veces no habéis dicho, con alguna vecina, familiar o amistad: “vamos a apuntarnos a pilates, por lo menos salimos de la casa y nos distraemos”? El deporte es una poderosa herramienta para evitar la soledad, no caer en la rutina diaria, estar activos, dentro de nuestras posibilidades, tener ganas de vivir: nada es imposible.María del Carmen Villacañas es monitora de la Escuela Municipal de Deportes de Villacarrillo y monitora del Gimnasio Municipal de la misma localidad.
En el año 2010 empieza a trabajar para el mundo del deporte, aunque desde pequeña siempre ha estado vinculada al mismo. Comienza a desarrollar funciones de monitora deportiva en la Escuela de Deportes, realizando actividades como entrenadora de fútbol base, monitora de campamentos urbanos, tenis natación, gimnasio, y también colabora en la organización de diferentes eventos deportivos.
Recientemente, también es monitora de gimnasia en el Centro de Participación Activa (CPA) de Villacarrillo. Además, ha adquirido formación complementaria como guía de ruta, monitora de medio ambiente y gestión ambiental, natación para adultos y bebés (matronatación), TRX-crosstraining, musculación y fitness, y deporte adaptado a personas con discapacidad y actividades deportivas This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
