How to communicate about the environment | Anca Anton | TEDxStockholm University

Have you ever felt like you're not getting through to people when discussing climate change? You present the facts, you share the data, but the conversation goes nowhere. You're left feeling frustrated, and the planet is left without another advocate. What if we've been getting it all wrong? This eye-opening talk argues that we don't have a communication crisis; we have a trust crisis. Our obsession with social media reach and "winning the argument" has failed. The real solution is hidden in plain sight: build trust by understanding who you are, and who it is you are talking with. Learn how to stop talking past one other and how to move from “winning arguments” to winning partners for the planet. Anca Anton is a PR lecturer at the University of Bucharest. She is known for her research and teaching about intercultural communication, negotiation, online PR, digital writing and marketing. She is active in civil society as vice-president of the youth NGO Team Work. As an educator, Anca is a key player in Erasmus programs on PR and lobbying, and in the European Civic University - CIVIS. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
