Father of Modern Dentistry in India Founder of Indian Academy of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry and the first Indian to be elected as president of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry. Consultant for Miss India Smiles for over 30 years, he introduced the concept of 'smile design' in Femina Miss India beauty pageants with which he was associated as a consultant for three decades.
He is the man behind smiles of most of Bollywood Actors and Actresses.
Dr Mayekar has gained wide acclaim around the globe and has had the privilege of being an invited speaker on Aesthetic Dentistry in Korea, Japan, Brazil, USA, Taiwan, Canada, France, Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, Peru, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the UK, China, Indonesia, Israel, Pakistan, Ecuador and Mexico. He is a postgraduate in TMD and Orofacial Pain from Tufts University, Boston, and a diplomate of the American Board of Esthetic Dentistry. She calls for empathy in action -through volunteering, advocacy, and storytelling-to help girls achieve their dreams and transform communities. Shreya Nair , a 16-year-old student at The Shriram Millennium School, Noida. She is a change-maker, academic achiever, and co-founder of The S.H.E Initiative (See. Her. Empowered.) — a student-led movement empowering underprivileged girls and women through education, self-defense, and health awareness. Drawing from personal and observed experiences, Jonaki exposes the roles of cultural conditioning, fear, and institutional negligence in perpetuating victim-blaming. She calls for empathy, legal reform, and collective responsibility, urging a shift in narrative to hold systems and perpetrators accountable. Her message pushes for a society where survivors are believed, supported, and empowered to seek justice without shame. Jonaki loves working with children and young people because she enjoys their company more than adults! Through her work as a psychologist she hopes to connect with young people, and help them find a safe space to explore their difficulties and reconnect with their skills and abilities. She has a double Master's degree. She did her first Master's degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology from Monash University, Australia and recently, she has completed another Master's degree in Narrative Therapy and Community Work from University of Melbourne (in collaboration with Dulwich Centre, Australia). Her 15 years of experience in mental healthcare includes working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents, teachers, and social workers. Jonaki deeply resonates with narrative philosophy that roots for social justice, collaboration, respect, and looks at the social-political context of the person and the problem in therapy. He currently serve as the President of Project Kitab, an initiative working to ensure equal access to education for underserved communities. He is also the Head of Finance at EyeCare Equality, where they provide affordable and accessible eye care to workers and families across the region. While school has shaped his thinking and values, these roles have pushed him to apply those lessons in the real world — through leading teams, managing finances, and learning what it means to lead with empathy.
