Hunger for Acceptance | Michelle Mah | TEDxChatsworthInternationalSchool

Shaped by a tumultuous past in her 20s, Michelle’s relationship with food has been an unexpected battle as a thriving, early-in-career communications professional. From childhood memories of cultural pressures within a traditional household to the shame of developing an eating disorder, bulimia nervosa and body dysmorphic disorder, her story is one of intentional healing, resilience and self-discovery. As a survivor, Michelle now uses her voice to shatter the silence and empower others, successfully pivoting from her communications career, into people development and mental health. Michelle is a Clinical Mental Health Therapist, Mindfulness and Mental Well-being Practitioner, and Trainer with a deep commitment to activating human potential and fostering sustainable transformation. A survivor of an eating disorder, Michelle often draws from her personal journey of navigating mental health challenges while balancing the demands of a high-pressure career. Her lived experience continues to inform her practice, helping others feel seen, empowered, and capable of lasting change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
