Beyond the Classroom: How Art Opened My World | Olamide Agunbiade | TEDxOsogbo

Olamide tells the story of choosing art and creativity in a society that often elevates formal schooling and science above the arts. Through personal anecdotes, setbacks and surprising breakthroughs, he shows how a steady creative practice built resilience, opened doors, and reshaped what success can look like — and offers practical encouragement for anyone who’s been told their passion isn’t “serious” enough. Olamide is a visual storyteller who captures moments and ideas in his non-conventional and futuristic illustrations. He is a multi-disciplinary Artist. He holds a BA in Fine and Applied Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. He worked at Sprinble, Surkero communications, and Feathersng, Elev8media, and Ulesson, holding the strategic positions of Lead Creative Designer, Art Director, and Head of Illustration and Graphic Artist and Digital Illustrator. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
