In this talk, volunteer rescuer Ellen Cathinka Apenes reflects on years of service with the Norwegian Red Cross and explores the deeper motivations behind why we choose to give our time freely. Ellen is a Communications Advisor specializing in social media and internal communication, with a passion for creating dialogue that informs, engages, and connects. With a background spanning both agency work, developing ideas and concepts for campaigns, installations, and educational programs, she brings a versatile perspective to her practice. Beyond her professional role, she contributes as Deputy Chair of Foreningen Norden Fredrikstad, and volunteers with the Red Cross Rescue Corps. Driven by creativity, empathy, and a strong sense of community, Ellen is dedicated to building communication experiences that make a lasting difference.
