Climate change and limited energy access reinforce gender inequalities, that is what's being seen in rural areas of the country. Women often bear the burden of collecting traditional fuels, exposing them to health risks and restricting time for education or income activities. Clean, renewable energy reduces this burden, improves health outcomes, and opens pathways for women’s economic participation. By linking climate resilience with inclusive energy access, gender equity can be advanced alongside environmental sustainability. Dr. Tanvir Ahmad is UNHCR Pakistan’s Energy Officer and Country Lead for Climate Change, driving clean energy solutions for vulnerable communities. A Commonwealth Scholar with a PhD in Renewable Energy from Durham University, he was named UK Alumni of the Year (Social Impact) for his pioneering work in solarizing schools, health facilities, with a focus on gender and vulnerables, proving that sustainable energy can power both resilience and hope. He focuses on how clean energy transforms lives: enabling education for girls, powering healthcare, protecting the environment, and building resilience in the face of climate change. His career reflects a deep commitment to bridging humanitarian action with sustainable development, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to a greener and more equitable future. Xiaoang Huang (Sissi) is a 16-year-old student in grade 11C who is passionate about the arts, beauty, and snow sports. She is currently working on a virtual project showcasing the arts and culture of the Bouyei ethnic group. Her TEDx topic is inspired by her personal journey in documentary-making focused on Bouyei culture, an influence that has deeply moved her since childhood. Through her speech, Xiaoang hopes to not only share the richness of Bouyei traditions but also inspire others to recognize the valuable lessons it holds.
