Pillars of High Performance : Building Soul-Aligned Excellence | Robin Uthappa | TEDxEmirates Hills
In this talk, Robin Uthappa shares the five foundational pillars that create consistent, soul-aligned excellence in high-pressure environments. Drawing from personal experiences in professional cricket, including winning World cup & both the Orange Cap and IPL championship in the same season, he reveals how identity, clarity, process, integrity, and creating room for growth transformed his approach to performance.
Learn why doing the right thing when no one's watching matters, how setting a baseline of getting just half a percent better each day compounds into extraordinary results, and why the will to succeed must always outweigh the fear of failure. This is a practical framework for anyone seeking to elevate their performance while staying true to themselves. Robin Uthappa is a former international cricketer for India, a T20 World Cup winner, and IPL champion with over two decades in professional sport. Now based in Dubai, he is the founder of TRUE, a company focused on men’s mental health, high-performance coaching for children, and leadership mentoring. Beyond the field, Robin has become a sought-after voice, sharing insights as a cricket commentator, speaking at corporate events, and engaging audiences on resilience, purpose, and growth. His journey reflects humility, hard work, kindness, and empathy, values that shape his mission to help others unlock their potential and live with intention. I’ll show how presence, silence, and “reading the room” reveal what transcripts miss—brought to life with a yellow chair, a deliberate pause, and a simple “sigh changes the story” demo. Despite the provocative title, it’s not human vs. AI; the magic happens when AI handles information and humans hold context. - 4:36Democracy at 16: A Risk or a Right? | Georgiana Jeffreys | TEDxSGBIS YouthThrough recent election reforms in the United Kingdom, sixteen-year-olds will now be given the right to vote in the next general election. In Europe currently the only countries to allow them to vote in general elections are Austria and Malta . On the one hand teens form a vital part of society and their vote would mean the government was more reflective of the public opinion and giving them the opportunity to vote encourages lifelong civic engagement. On the other hand teens are very susceptible to the influence of parents and therefore would be less reflective and secondly, teens have a lack of maturity and life experience and therefore this power should not be handed over to them. - 4:52Burnt by Today's Education System | Anna Gallagher | TEDxSGBIS YouthHow far is the education system helpful in shaping young minds and driving success? The education system seems to have a singular view of success that is only achieved with a narrow path filled with methodical examinations. However, this close minded view has lead to the crushing of creativity and individuality as well as curiosity and has left many students demoralised and discouraged from pursuing education and knowledge. This has also lead to anxiety and the phenomenon that is burn out. Is this singular view of education helpful or harmful and what would be alternatives? And can exams truly assess our understanding of a topic when many are more focused on learning exam technique rather than understanding the content?
