I Used to Think I Wasn't Indigenous Enough | Michelle Brooks | TEDxRegina

In this raw and heartfelt talk, Michelle takes us on a deeply personal journey navigating grief, reconnection, and resilience. With courage and clarity, she challenges the myth of not being "Indigenous enough" and reclaims the power of lived experience, inner strength, and cultural purpose. This is a story for anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong and a reminder that identity is not a checklist, it’s a journey. Michelle is a First Nations woman from the Cowessess First Nation in Treaty 4. Today, she is the proud owner of two businesses focused on advancing Reconciliation and a board member in two organizations she is passionate about. After strategically building a strong personal brand and area of expertise, she is dedicated to creating Indigenous careers, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities in all levels of industry. In 2020, she moved into a career focused on her passions and accepted as many opportunities as she could, even when they were outside her comfort zone. In 2023, she took a risk and left the corporate world to be 100% in charge of her career. Michelle describes herself as a motivated introvert who lives by the motto to "do it scared' when you have goals to reach. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
