Scegliere lavoro, partner, casa diventano tutte ardue imprese. La massima espressione di quanto siamo immersi nella resistenza, di quanto ormai l’abbiamo fatta nostra, ad oggi, è che ne abbiamo perfino fatto uno sport: lo sport di endurance.Si pensi alle ultramaratone, gare di corsa di centinaia di chilometri, in auto-sufficienza. Allora, se in passato la resistenza ci permetteva di sopravvivere fisicamente, oggi è la sopravvivenza sociale a chiederci di esibire la nostra capacità di resistere. Infatti, siamo in un’era nella quale tutti, a nostro modo, dobbiamo essere ultramaratoneti nel quotidiano.A prima vista, tutte queste gesta di resistenza sembrano ammirabili. Eppure, guardando meglio, possiamo accorgerci di una cosa importante: se saper resistere è vantaggioso, la vorace richiesta della società di una perenne ultra-resistenza è sintomo di qualcosa che non va, di uno stato psicopatologico diffuso. L’invito a prendere questa consapevolezza è l’idea worth spreading di questo talk. Docente presso l’Università di Bergamo, si occupa del rapporto tra percezione e motorio, guardando alle neuroscienze per comprendere come sperimentiamo la realtà del mondo esterno. Studia la natura dell’endurance nelle ultramaratone. È un ultramaratoneta, triatleta delle lunghe distanze e ama la letteratura. Ha svolto la sua ricerca tra Belgio, Svizzera, Germania e Italia. She has taught English and Literature for almost twenty years in the western suburbs of Victoria. She has been an Associate Teacher at Monash University and educational consultant for the Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools (MACS), Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), Victorian Association of Teachers of English (VATE), National Gallery of Vitoria (NGV) and Malthouse Theatre. She was also a playwright and researcher, completing her PhD in Theatre and Performance where she investigated the role intertextuality plays in hybrid feminist playwriting. Christine was part of the inaugural Teaching Excellence Program (2022) as well as a Teaching Innovation Fellow (2023) at the Victorian Academy of Teachers and Leadership. Currently, she is the Director of Teaching and Learning (P-12) at Westbourne Grammar School.
