- 7:01Mangroves, AI, and the Climate Fight | Roots4Change Team | TEDxBritishSchoolManilaThe Climate Clock is ticking. In just over four years, the world risks crossing the 1.5°C threshold that marks irreversible climate damage. Three young Filipina environmental leaders, Maria, Mireya, and Chinee, believe the time to act is now.Through Roots for Change, they bring together science, art, and technology to inspire and mobilize the next generation. They have planted 10,000 mangroves in coastal Batangas, used AI to map coral reefs, and hosted art competitions that make conservation deeply personal. Their work shows that protecting the planet is not only about data; it is also about connection, creativity, and community. This is a call to action from youth who are already leading. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is today. Chinee, Maria, and Mireya are the leaders of Roots for Change a team of conservationists dedicated to taking and inspiring environmental action through the integration of science, technology, art, and creative writing. They focus on encouraging and empowering students to take initiative in order to contribute to solutions addressing the climate crisis. Not only have they formed meaningful solutions within classrooms, but they've directly contributed to sustainable development to the wider community through reforestation efforts, art competitions, and created educational tools. Through these efforts, they strive to encourage others to step beyond their familiar boundaries, explore new approaches to conservation, and take an active role in shaping a more sustainable future.
