Write Up Your Soul | Sarita Chauhan | TEDxNerul

In this talk Dr Sarita Chauhan shares a deeply personal story of growing up in a disciplined, silent environment — first in an army household, then in a quiet marriage. In the absence of emotional expression, writing became her lifeline. She discovered that writing isn't just for writers — it's for anyone who needs to release what they can’t say out loud. Writing helped her process pain, find clarity, and reconnect with herself. She explains that writing is a sensory, healing practice, not just an intellectual one. It engages touch, sound, sight, even smell — grounding us in the present and helping us express what words alone sometimes can't. She also shares real-life examples — like a paanwala and a cobbler — who found purpose and healing through writing, without needing degrees or recognition. To help others, she created “Write Up Your Soul” — a space for honest, unfiltered expression using four simple steps: Feel. Face. Free. Flow. Dr. Sarita Chauhan is a bilingual author, educationist, and reflective wanderer of words with a Ph.D. in English Literature, as well as a passionate artist. Chairperson of JSM Academy and a featured voice on international platforms including Harvard, she has authored three books and holds recognitions from the India Book of Records and the Gems Book of World Records. She is the founder of *Write Up Your Soul*—a movement deeply rooted in ancient wisdom and lived experiences, encouraging writing as a tool for self-discovery and transformation, turning one's inner voice into action. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
