Educated and trained at the Univ. of Maryland, Harvard Univ./MGH, the Univ. of Wisconsin, and MIT, he has led some of the largest kidney transplant programs in the USA, winning numerous awards. While an entrepreneur and innovator, Dr. Scalea also publishes on humanism, and the impact of transplant on donor and recipient families.
