Mosaic Mind – Embracing Our Intersections | Missy Searl | TEDxArgyle St

What if the pieces of your life that feel broken, misfit, or misunderstood were actually what made you whole? In this deeply personal talk, the speaker shares her journey as a Black, neurodiverse woman navigating multiple intersections of identity across continents, cultures, and generations. From childhood in Germany and Canada to raising a neurodiverse child, she explores how understanding her own mosaic mind—a tapestry of experiences, challenges, and resilience—revealed a strength and wisdom she never knew she had. Through reflection, courage, and the power of writing, she invites us to embrace our intersections, honor our differences, and insist on being seen. Missy Searl wears many hats — Executive Director of Period Equity Alliance, Provincial Coordinator of NSANSF, business consultant, and all-around community cheerleader. She’s powered by passion, purpose, and a love for helping people thrive. With a flair for adult education, DEIA design, and global training, Missy’s career has taken her from local boardrooms to international classrooms. She’s served with CEED, Oceanview, AWENS, and more — always with heart. When she’s not leading change, she’s cheering on her sons and grandkids, loving life with husband Stuart (37 years strong!), or dreaming up her next bold idea. Missy lives to uplift and inspire. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
