Our indigenous foods can reclaim our health and sovereignty | Fred Chalula | TEDxLusaka

NOTE FROM TED: While some viewers may find this helpful as a complementary approach, please do not look to this talk for health advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and understanding of diet and disease prevention. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfIn the wake of escalating numbers of people presenting with Non-Communicable Diseases and the shift to fast and processed foods at the expense of healthy indigenous foods, especially in low and middle-income countries, Fred Chalula uses this TEDx Talk to advocate for embracing indigenous foods to reclaim our health. Fred Chalula is a community nutrition expert who works with communities and health institutions to ensure that key populations have access to comprehensive nutrition information and services. He has decades of experience in providing nutrition technical guidance and oversight with UN agencies, NGOs, Faith-Based Organisations, rural communities and households. A nutrition champion, Fred is a mentor, trainer and advisor in nutrition, health programming, and healthy living. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
