Rethinking Disability | Amaira & Eva Deotale | TEDxMilton Keynes Youth

What if our deepest assumptions about disability are holding us all back?In this deeply personal and inspiring talk, 11-year-old twin changemakers Amaira and Eva Deotale share their unique perspective on life alongside their father, who lives with a rare muscle-wasting condition. As co-founders of the "Being Purple" campaign, they've been working since the age of seven to challenge societal biases and promote empathy and inclusion.Through their story, they demonstrate how shifting our perceptions and breaking down barriers around disability can open up a future of boundless possibilities not just for their family, but for everyone. Amaira and Eva are 11-year-old twin changemakers and co-founders of Being Purple, a campaign they started at just 7 years old to help people understand disability better.Inspired by their dad, who lives with a rare muscle-wasting condition, they’ve made it their mission to make the world a kinder and more inclusive place. They've written two children’s books, created a school magazine, and speak up for empathy and equality wherever they go.Their powerful work has earned them awards from Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Prime Minister’s Points of Light, and their local Mayor. At TEDxMiltonKeynesYouth, they’ll show us how small voices can spark big change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
