Silencing the Noise: The Art of Focus | Hüsnü Alper | TEDxYaşamTasarımSchools
Today, our attention is constantly under attack. Phones, notifications, and social media make it harder than ever to stay focused. The problem isn’t within us, but around us. Focus means giving your full attention to one thing, and it can be trained. By putting the phone aside, creating a simple workspace, and practicing short periods of deep work, we can start to rebuild it. We don’t need to reject technology, but we must take control of how we use it. In a world full of noise and distraction, the real power lies in being able to think clearly and focus deeply. Hüsnü Alper is a dedicated and multi-talented 10th-grade student with a passion for innovation, collaboration, and the arts. As a key member of the mechanical team in the VEX Robotics Competition held in Turkey, he has demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and a keen interest in engineering. His global outlook was further enriched through his participation in a student exchange program between Türkiye and Latvia, where he engaged in cross-cultural dialogue and academic exchange.Beyond academics, Hüsnü is an active contributor to his school community. He is a committed athlete on the school’s basketball team and a proud member of the school marching band, balancing both intellectual and creative pursuits. His diverse experiences reflect a well-rounded individual driven by curiosity, discipline, and a desire to make a meaningful impact. - 9:36What's the Point of Friendship? | Summer Gu | TEDxKeystone Academy BJFriendship, something that is part of our everyday lives but also something which we rarely talk about. Everyone knows friends are great, but when have we ever asked the question - "What's the Point of Friendship?" My name is Summer, I got this name from stray birds "Let life be beautiful like summer flowers", my mom wishes that I could be just like that line, to be passionate and splendid. It turns out I somehow is like that; friends would describe me as lively and outgoing. (But I’m actually INFJ) I’m an eight-grade student turning 14 this year. I really like standing on the stage. My first performance was when I’m 6, at the National Grand Theatre. Then I decided that I’m going to stick with that. Right now, I’m a script writer, director, and an actor for a production that has performed in 5+ countries and 10+ cities. I also experienced when thoughts really changed people. We once performed a scene about feminist in an Islamic country. After the show, many girls came to me and said that they had new visions about some of the parts in their belief. It helped me realize that thoughts could really change a person. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 7:25What's the Point of Doing One More Push-up Everyday? | William Luan | TEDxKeystone Academy BJIf someone told you push-ups, out of everything, have the power of changing your life, you'll probably brush them off as insane. But in this talk, William reveals the hidden philosophies behind push-ups, and how the power of one more can change your life. I am a grade 8 student obsessed with the power of tiny habits. After the 34th time flexing at the mirror, I was left questioning my strength (and my ability to open jam jars). I stumbled onto a simple question: How could I improve my strength, thus my confidence? Armed with curiosity, my dad’s advice, and a whiteboard in my bedroom, I began tracking my progress—one pushup at a time. Day 1: 1 pushup. Day 2: 2. Day 30: 30. Along the way, I discovered something unexpected: The pushups could drastically influence my confidence (and biceps). Later I began testing the science of incremental growth on myself——and some skeptical friends. And concluded that the +1 rule is stronger than I thought. In today’s talk, I would be revealing the power of +1 and how it shapes your lives.
