Transforming Trauma | Katinka Hajas | TEDxKienitzer Street
Like the Buddhist parable of the blind men and the elephant, Katinka's artworks show us that truth is only ever partial until it is pieced together. Through words, materials, scientific theories, and cultural references, she maps this invisible inner ocean. Katinka also explores relationships through the science of mirror neurones, showing how empathy makes us reflections of one another: the image of you in me, the image of me in you. And in Grinding Mills, the monotony of emotions like guilt and shame becomes both unbearable and strangely meditative. Katinka Hajas’s work explores the subtle connections between materials, spaces, and the inner world of people. Drawing on her personal therapy process, she uses sculpture, installation, watercolor, and video to examine how hidden traumas, wounds, and fragile balances shape our identities and relationships. Rather than offering clear answers, her works invite viewers into a space of reflection on the unknown. In this way, her art becomes both a process of mapping inner landscapes and an invitation to embrace the mystery of human existence. - 14:30The running community helping the local community | Sarah Donaghy | TEDxGosportSometimes kindness is measured in cans and miles. Sarah Donaghy shares how a running club turned compassion into action, fueling food banks and strengthening a community one step at a time. Sarah Donaghy is the welfare officer at Hampshire based Fareham running club. Having helped set up the club’s yearly ‘Food Bank Run’, Sarah was moved by the work of food banks in the UK. Following the death of her stillborn daughter Katie Louise in January 2022, she was touched by the help of the local community. Feeling the impact of those feeding her family at their lowest, Sarah was keen to see how the running community could help their local community. Her idea is to pay it forward getting as many UK running clubs to run their own ‘Food Bank Run’.Sarah is wife, mother to 4 children and Katie in heaven, currently working as a Special needs teacher.
