We Need More Space for Trauma Storytelling | Simone Muschett | TEDxStamford
Trauma storytelling is an intentional practice that Simone uses to foster human connection and sense of belonging in her work with children and families. Simone shares how she is able to balance structure and honest conversation to manage student behavior in the classroom, to coordinating transformational retreats for her community. All for the purpose of creating a safe space for trauma storytelling, that would reduce the negative mental and emotional toll unaddressed adversity can take on all of us. Simone challenges listeners to intentionally set aside sacred time for trauma storytelling in our daily routines as a first step to healing our society. Simone Elise Muschett, LMSW is passionate about serving, raising and developing at-risk youth into resilient ones; and, coaches adults through their healing. Her drive began in high school after experiencing a lack of care from surrounding adults as she fought through her own personal crises. Today Simone holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a Masters in Social Work. Currently, Simone is living and walking in her purpose as a School Social Worker for NYC Public Schools, and the Founder & CEO of Resilient Young Minds Inc.
