María Jesús Puerta comparte con ESPERANZA cómo una historia de infancia, con un diccionario y un bisonte como protagonistas, marcó su forma de afrontar la vida y, años después, la tormenta del cáncer.Desde su experiencia personal, reflexiona sobre la esperanza como una decisión activa: avanzar hacia la adversidad para transformarla en conocimiento y propósito. Un camino que la llevó a desarrollar un proyecto reconocido por la NASA, que hizo sola desde casa, del que fue la única ganadora internacional entre más de 1.200 proyectos y 80 países. María Jesús Puerta Angulo és enginyera de Mines, Recursos Naturals i Energètics, i també graduada en Administració i Gestió Immobiliària, a més de pilot de drons. Amb diversos màsters en Enginyeria i Gestió Ambiental, Prevenció de Riscos Laborals, Intel·ligència Artificial aplicada a la Enginyeria i Arquitectura, i Bioconstrucció, és una professional en formació contínua que defensa que allò improbable no és impossible.Va ser l’única guanyadora internacional del Lunar Recycle Challenge de la NASA, assolint des de la seva llar a Tarragona el que semblava inabastable: crear Esperanza, el primer bessó digital per al reciclatge lunar. Aquesta fita va demostrar que amb enginy, perseverança i fe, fins i tot els reptes més llunyans —com la Lluna— poden esdevenir realitat. Ara impulsa Esperanza 2.0, ampliant aquesta visió cap a una exploració espacial sostenible.També ha desenvolupat un model d’intel·ligència artificial per a la detecció precoç del càncer de mama, un projecte profundament vinculat a la seva experiència com a supervivent. Emprenedora i divulgadora, va fundar el Club de los Frikis, una comunitat que apropa la IA de manera creativa i accessible.La seva trajectòria vital inspira a alliberar-se del negatiu i a confiar que la innovació i l’esperança poden transformar tant la Terra com l’espai.
