What if math could help you find your dreams? | Judith Zeilinger, PhD | TEDxGraz

Big innovation starts with a big dream. However, for many of us, bad experiences and fear of failure have stifled our ability to dream big. The good news is that finding your dreams is a skill that can be (re)learned. In fact, all of us have already come in contact with our teacher: math! At its core, doing math means looking at any problem with curiosity, identifying key concepts, and seeing beyond the immediate challenge to grasp the bigger picture. These are precisely the skills essential to finding your dreams and, as you gain confidence in your ability to achieve these dreams, transform you into a visionary. Let math be your teacher! "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else." - by Yogi Berra What if math could help you find your dreams? Dr. Judith Zeilinger is a mathematician turned author who is passionate about helping people stop saying "I'm bad at math" and start seeing math as a guide to finding and achieving their dreams. People say her superpower is seeing patterns and connecting dots, thus coming up with ways and solutions that others can't. That's all very practical, so she prefers to be seen as funny. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
