How not to remain mute in the face of AI | Jean-Gabriel Ganascia | TEDxRivesdeMoselle
The year 2000 has already represented an amazing "tomorrow", thanks to the net and a very old technology, formal neural networks dating back to 1943, which have been abandoned several times and yet have had a huge impact on today's AI. It's hard to predict what AI and the world will be like tomorrow with AI. 5 years ago, for example, everyone was talking about the metaverse and it's already forgotten...
For tomorrow to be tomorrow and surprise us, it has to be different from today. We can't predict tomorrow. We can worry about a lot of things, such as selling canned love like with dating sites and their algorithms and profiling, but we can also be enthusiastic about the technical possibilities offered, such as its application to the structure of proteins. We can't predict tomorrow, but can we welcome it? Jean-Gabriel Ganascia is a professor at Sorbonne University, a specialist in AI ethics and Chairman of the CNRS Ethics Committee. An engineer by training and a philosopher by vocation, he has been exploring the ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence for many years. Author of several books, he questions the impact of technology on our autonomy and humanity.
