Rivers Don't Forget. Why Do We? | Abuzar Madhu | TEDxLahore
A river never forgets its path: What history and indigenous knowledge can teach us about flood-related disaster preparedness. Focusing on the once mighty River Ravi, activist and artist Abuzar Madhu gives historical and literary evidence to show why "listening" to rivers and submitting to their might is the only way developing nations can avoid flood related disasters that are increasingly impacting communities due to accelerated climate change Abuzar Madhu is a Pakistani performing artist, writer, and activist based in Lahore. He is a founding member of the "Ravi Bachao Tehreek" (Save Ravi Movement), an organization dedicated to protecting the Ravi River from pollution and advocating for its rights. Madhu uses his art, including theatrical performances and storytelling, to raise awareness about environmental degradation and the importance of preserving natural resources. He also highlights the connection between human lives and the environment by collecting folklore from communities living along the riverbanks. - 9:16From Fast to Functional Fashion | Tarini Ramchandani | TEDxUniversity High School YouthWhat if the t-shirt you’re wearing right now came with a hidden cost of 715 gallons of water and years of toxic waste? Fast fashion is draining our planet’s resources, polluting water, and filling landfills at record speed. In my talk, I’ll share how recycling textiles, and rethinking our habits can turn students like us into leaders of real change. Tarini is a waste warrior, gender advocate, painter, published author and a TEDx speaker. She is a 2023 Diana Award Winner for her work in creating awareness about the need for proper sanitary waste disposal practices and according dignity to waste pickers in India.
