Discipline Algorithms to Control Your Focus | Ali Flifli | TEDxUniversity Hassan II of Casablanca

In this talk, Ali Flifli aimed to build a cognitive bridge between the past and the present — between the fast algorithms of Artificial Intelligence and the timeless spiritual “stations” of self-purification.His reflection was inspired by the writings of Imam Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali, who, more than nine centuries ago, outlined profound steps for purifying and disciplining the self. He revisited his ideas through a contemporary lens — one that helps us face the overwhelming flood of digital distractions that define our modern world.Through this approach, he sought to highlight the integration between Islamic sciences and human sciences, showing how the wisdom of our scientific heritage can offer practical tools to strengthen focus and self-discipline in an age ruled by fast algorithms. Ali Flifli is a researcher based at Hassan II University of Casablanca. Currently pursuing a PhD in Islamic Studies, he combines rigorous academic research with active public engagement, bridging the gap between scholarly inquiry and community outreach. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
