Sin duda los avances tecnológicos en medicina y en particular en oncología, nos han permitido diagnosticar antes, tratar mejor y vivir más. Sin embargo, a veces olvidamos que detrás de cada innovación debe seguir estando la persona. En esta charla reflexiono sobre cómo el éxito profesional y la excelencia técnica no siempre van de la mano del sentido, y sobre la necesidad de redefinir qué entendemos por éxito cuando trabajamos con pacientes, enfermedad y vida real. A través de experiencias personales y profesionales, propongo una mirada más humana de la medicina, donde la tecnología, la investigación y la vocación médica solo cobran pleno significado cuando están al servicio de las personas. Felipe Couñago is a medical doctor specializing in Radiation Oncology with a robust clinical, academic, and research career. A graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela, he trained at Hospital Universitario La Princesa in Madrid and currently serves as Medical Director of GenesisCare Spain.He earned his PhD cum laude from Universidad Europea de Madrid, with a focus on prostate cancer imaging. He has held academic roles at several institutions, including Universidad Europea, Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, and CEU Madrid, and is actively supervising eight PhD theses.With over 150 scientific publications, an h-index of 22, and leadership in multiple clinical studies on prostate and lung cancer, Felipe is a founding member of GIMOR and collaborates with major oncology research groups in Europe. Story of a journey standing as a testament to the power of opportunity from Sarvam Shakti foundation, and inner strength. With grit and grace, she shows that girls from underserved communities can rise into confident leaders, given the right support. She reminds us to see them not as charity cases, but as “Shaktis”, bearers of strength, capable of uplifting entire communities. Necessary approvals have been obtained by the foundation. Simran grew up watching her father work long, exhausting days as a daily wage earner. Life around her was chaotic and filled with the pressure of survival, yet her father held one unwavering belief that his daughter deserved a chance to learn and grow beyond what society expected of her. That chance arrived through Sarvam Shakti. There, Simran entered a world of movement, discipline, health, confidence, and expression. Dance, yoga, nutrition, and self-awareness became tools that helped her shed the labels of “marginalised” or “disadvantaged,” and rewrite the story society had written for her. Today, she speaks about the power of opportunity; not charity or sympathy, but true opportunity that sees a girl for who she can become. Simran reminds us that compassion and curiosity exist in every child, regardless of background. All they need is someone to notice, believe, and give that first chance. Dal caso di Taranto fino agli oceani del Pacifico, Renato Nitti traccia la mappa globale del traffico illecito di rifiuti e del suo devastante impatto ambientale. Attraverso la sua esperienza di magistrato antimafia, rivela il legame tra criminalità organizzata ed ecomafia, sottolineando l'urgenza della giustizia ambientale come strumento fondamentale per la tutela del pianeta e delle comunità colpite. Magistrato e Procuratore della Repubblica presso il Tribunale di Trani, ha maturato una lunga esperienza nella Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia di Bari e in diversi pool investigativi su reati societari, ambientali e contro la pubblica amministrazione.Fino al 2024 è stato membro del Comitato nazionale per la gestione della direttiva europea sulle emissioni e coordinatore scientifico del Master sulla responsabilità degli enti presso l’Università di Bari. Dal 2013 è docente e formatore in diritto penale dell’ambiente per la Scuola Superiore della Magistratura e altri enti istituzionali.Ha ricoperto ruoli di consulenza e relatore per organismi internazionali come il Consiglio d’Europa e le Nazioni Unite, partecipando a progetti contro traffici illeciti e crimine ambientale.
