What Makes Us Who we are | Bhanwi Bhardawaj | TEDxMIETJammu

Ms Bhanwi Bhardawaj's talk, “What Makes Us Who We Are,” encouraged the audience to embrace authenticity and rise above adversity. She powerfully highlighted the importance of core human virtues such as honesty, hard work, and resilience, emphasizing how these values shape character, guide life choices, and enable individuals to overcome challenges with strength and integrity. Born in Nowshera, Rajouri — a border town where even education is a privilege — Bhanvi’s journey rises from adversity to national recognition. A national-level karate player and the reigning Miss Universe Jammu & Kashmir, she represents the bridge from the border to the national stage. For the past seven years, she has been teaching underprivileged children, using education as her way of giving back to the community she grew up in. An unusual blend of disciplines, Bhanvi is a Computer Science engineer turned lawyer, and today she works as a model and actor, with four years of experience in the industry. A trained theatre artist, she will soon be seen on screen, bringing her craft and her story to a wider audience. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
