Tap into your inner child to thrive in the Future of Work | Mengting Ren | TEDxQCU
The Future of Work isn’t just about AI - it’s time for our work to actually center our humanity and our uniquely human qualities. Mengting has been researching and designing the Future of Work for over ten years of her career, and shares with us her personal story and learnings about what humans need to thrive in the Future of Work. How might we tap into our inner child to rediscover and recenter our uniquely human capabilities, like creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration? It’s not just an intellectual conversation about what humans can do better than AI. Rather, what makes us most resilient in the future of work is coming home to what we’ve known for a long time – imagination, inspiration, connection – things that our inner child knows so well. Mengting is QCU’s Director of Organizational Strategy, creating a long-term vision of the future of higher education. She is an alum of IDEO and Deloitte, specializing in organizational design, learning strategy, and innovation. She is also an ICF-certified Healing-centered Coach. - 10:54Postvention is prevention | Berit Lie | TEDxArendalWhy are some losses surrounded by compassion, while others are met with silence, shame, and systemic isolation? This talk deeply challenges the widespread idea that grief has a hierarchy, and presents a desire to change attitudes and policy in order to replace shame with solidarity, and prove that postvention is prevention. Berit's deep commitment to addressing grief and stigma is rooted in a profound personal tragedy. Berit found her younger brother, Rune, dead from an overdose. The two shared an inseparable bond. Rune fought addiction for many years, carrying a heavy burden of systemic and interpersonal stigma from society in his struggle to become free from substance use disorders. After his death, Berit found that this stigma, is passed on to the bereaved, leading to social and systemic isolation. She other bereaved individuals are now working to establish EVR, Norway’s first association dedicated exclusively to those bereaved by substance-related death. Through this work, she aims to give the bereaved a voice in society, influence necessary changes in the help they receive, and work to replace shame with solidarity. Her expertise is derived from living through the crisis and observing the deep systemic failures in the encounter with bereaved families This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
