Education That Inspires, Not Pressures | Malati Kalmadi | TEDxKIS Pune Youth

In this heartwarming and powerful TEDx talk, veteran educationist Malati Kalmadi shares her transformative four-decade journey in education, urging young learners to replace pressure with purpose and marks with meaning. Speaking with passion and clarity, she invites students to pause, reflect, and ask themselves: “What sparks my curiosity?” and “What makes me say ‘wow’?”From her early days as a struggling student to becoming a pioneering advocate for inclusive and gifted education, Malati weaves stories of personal growth, student transformation, and the role of curiosity in lifelong learning. She explains why education must go beyond textbooks—focusing on nurturing the fire within each child, not just filling their minds. Malati Kalmadi is a veteran educationist with over three decades of dedicated service to the field of learning and inclusive education. Her journey with the Kaveri Group of Institutes—from a substitute teacher in 1981 to a Trustee in 1989—reflects her deep-rooted belief that education is the most powerful tool to shape the future. As a founding director of the Kaveri Gifted Education & Research Centre (KGERC) and a long-time volunteer with the Anjali Morris Foundation, Malati has been a passionate advocate for children with special needs and gifted learners alike.
