This talk emphasizes the importance of adopting a gender-neutral approach to HPV vaccination. It outlines diseases caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), including genital warts and cancers such as cervical, penile, anal, vulvar, and vaginal, highlighting that HPV affects both men and women. The session discusses cervical cancer, key risk factors linked to persistent HPV infection, and reviews the introduction, evolution, and current status of the HPV vaccine in India’s immunization program. Focus is placed on the need for male vaccination to ensure herd immunity and protection for all, including men in same-sex relationships. The talk concludes with details on the recommended age for vaccination, eligibility, and contraindications, providing clarity on effective prevention. The key message promotes awareness, equality, and informed understanding of the significance of gender-neutral HPV vaccination in safeguarding public health.
