Are You Rich, or Just Busy Owning Things? | VIPUL RIKHI | TEDxSurat

In a world obsessed with possessions and status, it’s easy to mistake busyness and accumulation for true richness. But what happens if you pause and ask: are you really enjoying the life you’ve built? This talk challenges us to look beyond ownership and ask whether our outer wealth is matched by inner fulfillment. Through stories, reflections, and simple yet profound observations, it highlights how cultivating awareness, presence, and depth can turn ordinary experiences into extraordinary moments and reveal the real measure of richness. Vipul Rikhi is a writer, singer, dancer, storyteller, and translator whose work flows across many forms of creative expression. Deeply inspired by the oral traditions of Kabir and other Bhakti and Sufi poets, he brings their timeless verses to life through song, performance, and storytelling. His journey has been one of exploring language, music, and the subtle truths of everyday living. As a singer, Vipul travels widely, sharing the sounds of folk traditions and creating experiences that touch the heart. As a writer and translator, he opens doors to wisdom preserved in poetry and song, making it accessible to people today. His work is both artistic and deeply human, reminding us of the beauty of listening, reflecting, and connecting. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
