The Inevitability of Disability | Stephanie Swanson | TEDxKU
The Inevitability of Disability focuses on the uncomfortable reality that we will all eventually face significant physical and mental limitations - whether they come from illness, injury, or the natural process of aging - and none of us are prepared for that day. How can we balance the drive to succeed and stretch ourselves, while still holding grace for ourselves when we physically and mentally must slow down to protect our well-being? I'm challenging others to approach themselves with compassion when life changes unexpectedly and to see their limits not as weaknesses but as opportunities to live boldly, creatively, and in a way that protects their physical and mental well-being. My local coaching network (ICF Heartland) has been an incredible support and they suggested repeatedly that I should speak about my experiences and perspectives on disability and aging. I am so honored to be thought of for the TEDx stage... and a little overwhelmed by it as well. I am grateful to be part of such a great event & platform This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
