The Ripple Effect of Facing Fear | Finn McGonigle | TEDxSt Georges Cologne Youth

We all experience fear - but what if it’s not merely something to conquer, but a force that helps shape who we become? Whether it’s public speaking, taking a leap of faith, or stepping into the unknown, fear often stands between us and our potential. But when we choose to face it, something powerful happens. This talk explores how confronting fear not only transforms us - it inspires those around us, creating a ripple effect that reaches far beyond a single act of courage. Finn McGonigle, Head Sports Captain at St. George’s The British International School, is a committed student leader who thrives in high-pressure environments. He leads the school’s Model United Nations team, organised a major MUN conference, coaches the U14 boys’ football team, and serves on the Student Council. Finn consistently embraces opportunities to step beyond his comfort zone, demonstrating that true leadership is shaped by courage, commitment, and a strong sense of community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
