- 8:11The Apathy Paradox | Paul Heller | TEDxSt Georges Cologne YouthGeneration Z faces a central paradox: despite being more informed and connected than any generation before, we often feel powerless to create real change. An oversaturation of global crises — amplified by social media — has led not to greater action, but to widespread apathy. By examining how digital activism often substitutes real-world engagement, I challenge my generation to move beyond performative gestures and reclaim the power of small, tangible steps. Paul Heller, Head Prefect at St. George’s The British International School, has woven leadership, ambition, and a passion for global issues into every part of his journey. From shaping student life on the Student Council to leading the Model United Nations Club, Paul consistently transforms ideas into action. His experiences — from school events to championing youth initiatives — have shaped him into a confident, thoughtful leader. - 8:54Redefining Intelligence | Liliy Foroutan | TEDxSt Georges Cologne YouthIn today’s education system, we often hear about the importance of academic success and standardised tests. But, have we stopped to ask: What does this relentless focus on grades really mean for students? Are we genuinely measuring their potential, or simply checking boxes? Does this system help students discover who they really are, or does it push them to conform to a narrow definition of intelligence? Liliy Foroutan is a student at St. George’s The British International School, known for her strong problem-solving skills, open-minded approach, and leadership abilities developed through years of diverse experience. As leader of the Coding Club and Debate Club and an active participant in Model United Nations, she uses her voice to advocate for creativity, individuality, and student empowerment. - 6:57Rethinking Grief | Leonard Sickinger | TEDxSt Georges Cologne YouthSince the dawn of civilisation, the loss of a loved one has always been deeply painful. But why, in Western culture, is grief viewed solely as an individual process of sadness? Why can’t it also be a celebration of the lives we’ve lost? I believe it’s time to change our perception of grief — to make space for healthier, alternative ways of mourning. Leonard Sickinger, a student at St. George’s The British International School, is widely recognised for his bright intellect, open-minded nature, and unwavering support for those around him. But beyond the classroom accolades lies a quieter story - one of personal challenges and resilience that have profoundly shaped the thoughtful, grounded individual he is today. His journey reminds us that true strength often grows where few are watching, and that empathy and insight are often born from the struggles we carry within.
