In this heartfelt and inspiring TEDx talk, Olusola Sowemimo, Founder of Ope Farms, shares her unconventional path from being labeled “weird and stubborn” to discovering and embracing her purpose. Through her personal journey into sustainable farming and environmental advocacy, she challenges societal norms and expectations, showing how authenticity and persistence can lead to meaningful impact. Olusola's story is a testament to the power of self-belief, resilience, and living with intention. Her message: sometimes, the traits that others misunderstand in you may sometimes be the key to unlock your purpose and create lasting change. Olusola Sowemimo is the Founder of Ope Farms, an organic farm established nearly 12 years ago. A Law graduate from the University of Lagos, she has empowered over 5,000 individuals especially rural and urban women, children and youths through organic farming and economic training. Her work has earned international recognition, including being named one of Africa’s Top 10 Women in Organic Agriculture at BIOFACH in Nuremberg in 2024, with features on BBC, France 24, and she has several awards with multiple from Lagos State.
