The Generalist's Advantage: Seeing the World Through Multiple Lenses | Hamza Buhari | TEDxUCL
Drawing on insights from science and his life experiences, Hamza’s TEDx talk will challenge the notion that narrow specialisation is the only or even the best path to success. He will highlight how cultivating a broad skill set fosters creativity, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. More importantly, he will argue for the enduring value of empathy and human connection—qualities that, unlike technical expertise, will remain uniquely human in a world increasingly shaped by AI and automation. Hamza Buhari is a pharmacist, plastics recycling executive, and MSc student in Pharmaceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship with a passion for personal development and lifelong learning. At the time of his qualification, he was the youngest pharmacist in the UK and has since gained five years of frontline healthcare experience in Scotland while also managing a plastics recycling and manufacturing factory in Nigeria for two years. His diverse experiences, including 2 years on a remote Scottish island, have shaped his deep belief in the value of a broad, multidisciplinary approach to life.
