Finding Solace in Helping Others, Globally | Sheeba Ameer | TEDxPunkunnam Thrissur

When Sheeba Ameer’s daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, she faced an agonising seven-year journey through hospitals, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion—largely alone. But instead of letting that pain end with her story, Sheeba chose to create what she had desperately needed: Solace—a support system for children with long-term illnesses and their families. In this deeply moving talk, Sheeba shares how one family's struggle became the foundation for a movement that now provides medical, emotional, and financial support to hundreds. Sheeba Ameer is the founder of Solace, a pioneering support system for children with long-term illnesses. Her journey began with the seven-year battle to care for her daughter diagnosed with leukemia—a deeply personal experience that led her to build what she wished existed: a community of care. Solace now supports hundreds of families, offering medical, emotional, and financial aid. Recognized nationally, Sheeba has received the CNN Real Hero Award, Vanitha Woman of the Year, and the Ramankutty Achan Award for her social impact. With unshakable empathy and resolve, Sheeba Ameer turned personal grief into a movement of healing and hope for countless others. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
