Implementing practical sustainability | Dan Broersma | TEDxMacatawa

After 25 years working in sustainability across for-profit, nonprofit, and city government sectors, Dan Broersma has learned what actually works. Drawing from real experiences—like discovering a school's wasteful lighting system while investigating recycling—he reveals six practical steps any organization can take to build stronger, more sustainable programs. Dan, with over 25 years of experience in sustainability, leads the development and execution of community-focused environmental sustainability initiatives. As the City of Holland’s first Sustainability Manager, he helps individuals, organizations, and communities identify and develop sustainable opportunities and policies to benefit and serve the residents of Holland.A published author of the book ‘Practical Sustainability,’ Dan lives in Holland, with his wife and two children. He is passionate about faith, community, and sustainability and firmly believes that all three are interconnected and is passionate about bringing them all together. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
