Who Are You Becoming | Andrew Xiong | TEDxArbutus Ridge Youth
I want to begin with a big question: Who am I becoming? Not “Who am I?”—That‘s about who I was before. But “Who am I becoming” is a question about where I’m going, what I’m choosing, and who I want to be. Hi! My name is Andrew, and I’m 12 years old. I’m in Grade 6 and I really enjoy being active. Two of my favorite hobbies are playing hockey and mountain biking. I love the speed and teamwork in hockey, and when I’m on my bike, I feel free and full of energy. I also enjoy spending time with friends, learning new things at school, and challenging myself to improve. Whether I’m on the ice or riding through trails, I always try my best and have fun. I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and trying new adventures. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. - 6:24The Danger of Perfectionism | Joli Kwong | TEDxDiscovery College YouthThe Problem with Perfect: Why Perfectionism is Holding Us Back What happens when stress, self-criticism, and high expectations mix together? In this insightful and relatable TEDx talk, a student reflects on their personal struggle with perfectionism—from missed deadlines to overwhelming self-doubt—and how it almost stopped them from giving this very talk. With humor, vulnerability, and practical tips (like the 80/20 rule and power poses!), this talk explores how perfectionism affects our mental health, creativity, and confidence. It’s time to let go of perfect, embrace progress, and remind ourselves that being “good enough” is more than enough. #TEDx #Perfectionism #MentalHealth #StudentVoices #ProgressOverPerfection #Anxiety #YouthTalks #SelfWorth My name is Joli, and I would like to inform others about the definiton of perfectionism, common traits, and how it can spiral. I would also like to give examples of how it affects secondary students, and introduce two strategies for stress managment and positive thinking. - 6:26The Importance of Mental Health in Today's Society | Kairav Singh | TEDxDiscovery College YouthIt’s 2am, and David can’t sleep. He’s exhausted, anxious, and drowning in self-doubt—sound familiar? In this powerful TEDx talk, we explore the rising mental health crisis among young people, the silent toll of hustle culture, and the role of social media in shaping our emotional wellbeing. Through David’s story, we uncover why mental health deserves the same attention as physical health—and how we can all be part of the change. It’s time to break the silence, challenge the stigma, and reimagine a future where being honest about how we feel is a sign of strength, not weakness. #MentalHealthAwareness #YouthVoices #TEDx #EndTheStigma #Anxiety #Burnout #SocialMedia #Wellbeing #Mindfulness *TEDx Discovery College Youth Final Topic Selections *TEDx Discovery College Youth Final Topic Selections100% C42:F42My name is Kairav, and in this TEDx talk, I want to bring awareness to how important mental health is in today's society, a topic I truly believe is a key and regularly ignored.
