From paediatrics to adoptions, Prof. Simon Attard Montalto has dedicated his career to shaping the future of healthcare. But how has medicine evolved, and where is it headed next? Simon takes us through the long process of international adoptions, changes in healthcare and what they mean for all of us. Prof. Simon Attard Montalto studied at St Edward’s College, Malta, and the University of Liverpool Medical School, qualifying for MB.ChB in 1985. He trained in paediatrics at top UK hospitals, earning multiple fellowships, including from the Royal College of Physicians and the European Resuscitation Council. He has led Malta’s Department of Paediatrics (1996–2014) and has headed the Academic Department since 1998, during which he was awarded a doctorate in 2000 for his research on nutrition in children with malignant disease. A professor since 2010, he has authored scientific papers and textbooks while specialising in general, intensive, oncology, and renal paediatrics, with a strong focus on resuscitation training and medical adoptions.
