Beyond Concrete | Isabella Oriza Martínez | TEDxPrepas La Salle Bajio Youth
In my TED Talk, I share how spending time in nature has helped me feel better and live a happier life. Ever since I was a child, I noticed that being outside made me feel calmer and more focused. Later on, I discovered that science supports this. Studies show that nature helps reduce stress, slow down our heart rate, and improve how our brain functions. I also talk about the concept of biophilia, which means that we, as humans, have a natural connection to nature and living things. Unfortunately, many of us now spend most of our time indoors and in front of screens, which can increase stress and reduce our happiness. Through my personal experiences and simple examples, I encourage others to reconnect with nature. Even small moments like walking in a park or watching the sunset can make a big difference. My message is clear: nature is good for us, and we should make it a part of our everyday lives. My passion for the topic of the TED Talk didn't come from a textbook, but from seeing and experiencing things myself. I've seen how a walk in the woods can calm even the most restless mind, how touching the earth can spark a hidden creativity, and how just looking at a landscape can refresh our sense of what we're here for.
My goal isn't just to share information, but to get people to see things differently. I want each of us to realize how much power nature has to change us, and to actively look for that connection in our daily lives. Because, when we understand how nature affects us, we can learn to live a more fulfilling, balanced, and harmonious life.
