Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor of Symbiosis International University, never imagined that her career, which began as a gynecologist in Muscat in the 1990s, would eventually lead her to become a leader in higher education.In this TEDx talk, Dr. Vidya reflects on her journey and the profound impact education has had on her life. From her early years in Oman to her leadership role at Symbiosis International University, she shares how her experiences have shaped her belief in the power of education to empower women and spark lasting change.Drawing from her own life, her mother's story, and her work in education, Dr. Vidya speaks about how education, especially for young women in the Gulf region, can break barriers and transform entire communities. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar is the Principal Director of Symbiosis Society, and Pro Chancellor of Symbiosis International University. Symbiosis International University is a multi-disciplinary, multinational, multi-cultural University having more than 49000 students from all States of India and international students from 85 countries. The Symbiosis Society not only has under its ambit the Symbiosis International University but also has K12 Schools, College of Arts and Commerce and Museums- the Afro Asian Cultural Museum and the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial.
Dr. Vidya holds a Post Graduate Degree in Medicine, a Degree in Law and Ph.D. in 'Internationalisation of Higher Education in India’. Having presented papers at various National & International Conferences, she has numerous research publications to her credit and has also authored several books.
